Kehinde Wiley has previously admitted to adding sperm to his art:

"I'm taking little jabs at the masculinity, the bravado, even with the fact that there's sperm cells...."

Wiley also admitted to being homosexual and to being in a romantic relationship with another man. This point makes it believable, and his own testimony proves it: he purposefully added sperm to at least one¹ of his works and perhaps others.



1 Napoleon Leading the Army over the Alps (2005)


In Wiley’s interpretation, the artist replaced the Italian mountainside and ready infantry with a detailed background flooded with sperm cells. To this ensemble, he added an ornate gilded frame with testicular-shaped cartouches in each corner and crowned by a carved self-portrait emerging from yonic volutes.
