Before the winter storm hit, I harvested the turnips that were big enough to eat out of my Arkansas garden.
It was my best harvest. I have eaten this fresh vegetable many days and have one last serving left waiting in the fridge.
I like this plant because it grows when it is cold, giving the garden some purpose after other plants were killed off by frost. And this food promotes good health.
The turnips were steamed in a couple batches, then refrigerated.
It takes less than a minute in the microwave oven for them to warm up.
