1991 Highway of Death in Iraq War

I'm an American and I feel lied to. I just read about the 1991 Highway of Death in the Iraq war. Thousand of people fleeing Kuwait into Iraq were mercilessly slaughtered by US troops. It was not a battle, according to numerous testimonies, but a slaughter.

"The victims were not offering resistance. They weren't being driven back in fierce battle, or trying to regroup to join another battle. They were just sitting ducks", according to Commander Frank Swiggert, the Ranger Bomb Squadron leader.

"Even in Vietnam I didn't see anything like this. It's pathetic," said Major Bob Nugent, an Army intelligence officer said of the Highway of Death in Iraq.

This happened far away from the land of the United States, so this battle was not even necessary to defend Americans.

“Many of those massacred fleeing Kuwait were not Iraqi soldiers at all,” adds U.S. Attorney General-turned-peace activist, Ramsey Clark, “but Palestinians, Sudanese, Egyptians, and other foreign workers.”
